I turned 60 years old this year and I've always tried to take care of my teeth. But as I aged my doctor put me on high blood pressure pills. Our discount dental plan has actually saved our family of four, $2,132.10 in two years. After purchasing the dental plan we had to change dentists to find one that would accept the plan but it was well worth it. Our plan requires the dentist to do a quick periodic oral evaluation at no charge which provided an annual savings of $621 per year over our previous dentist’s rates. Unless a problem is noticed by the hygienist or on x-rays, the dentist is in and out very quickly and at no charge. The plan also offers x-rays at no charge.

The slightly graying gentleman tiptoed into the family room on Thursday night...just after work. He was surprised to learn that his sudden departure from a job that was no longer tolerable triggered the end of his health and dental insurance at 12:01am that same night.

The relief from the stress of the job felt great until he called the dentist office on Friday morning to find out the cost of his wife's “deep scaling teeth cleaning” scheduled for 3pm that day. They had been quoted $450 for the procedure and three 30 day follow up appointments at $60 each when they had their insurance coverage. No Longer "Financially Comfortable"

Once upon a time my husband and I were "Financially Comfortable" though not wealthy by any means. Rather suddenly he had to be installed in a long-term care facility and passed away eight months later. During this time our 'financially comfortable' status dwindled. By October of 2008 the national financial picture was starting to look shaky and our status slid down some more.

In February of 2009 it was clear that my dental work could no longer be delayed. I checked around and learned that the quote my dentist gave me was within the standard charged for that procedure. After the first phase had been completed I went to the desk to pay my bill and the young woman there asked me if I had dental insurance. I replied, "No, I don't; however, will this help?"
