The Preferred Network Access by Cigna Savings Program is NOT Insurance and is not intended to replace dental insurance. This plan does not meet the minimum creditable coverage requirements under M.G.L.c. 111M and 956 CMR 5.00. The program provides discounts at certain dentists for dental care.  The program does not make payments directly to the dentists for dental services and the plan member is obligated to pay for all dental care services but will receive a discount from those dentists who have contracted with Cigna Dental.  The range of discounts will vary depending on the provider type and services provided. What is a Cigna dental savings plan?

Dental savings plans are a great choice for people who need expensive procedures such as braces, bridges, dental implants, dentures, root canals and crowns. Can family members be added to a dental savings plan?

Yes, choose a family plan and your spouse, dependent children up to the age of 18 and full-time students up to the age of 25 can all enjoy dental discounts with your Preferred Network Access by Cigna plan, for a low family rate.  

Can I use my Cigna dental savings plan with dental insurance?

You can’t use dental insurance and a dental savings plan together to reduce the cost of the same procedure, but you can use it to save on different procedures. You can also opt to use a dental savings plan instead of insurance in instances where your dental savings plan will save you more money. And, if you hit your insurance’s annual spending limit, you can use your dental savings plan to reduce the cost of additional dental treatments. Your dentist can help you determine how to best use your insurance and your dental savings plan, and its best to check your insurance policy for any restrictions. 

How do I find participating dentists in my area for a dental savings plan?

DentalPlans.com has an online search tool that allows you to find participating dentists in your area. You can search by zip code or dentist name. It’s always a good idea to call the dentist’s office and confirm they accept a specific plan, on the chance that they have opted to accept different plans and have not yet publicized the change.
